Code of Conduct

The organizers are dedicated to ensuring this conference is a positive and inclusive experience for all attendees, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality, or religion. Harassment in any form will not be tolerated.

Expectations for Conduct:

  • Maintain a professional demeanor. Inappropriate behavior, including harassment, discriminatory or offensive remarks, and exclusionary jokes, is unacceptable. Harassment encompasses persistent disruptions, unwanted physical contact, sexual comments or gestures, deliberate intimidation, stalking, and recording or photographing individuals without their consent. It also includes derogatory remarks about gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, body size, race, or religion.
  • Ensure all communication is suitable for a professional environment and respectful of a diverse audience. Sexualized language or imagery is not permitted.
  • Treat others with kindness and respect. Refrain from insults or belittling remarks.
  • If asked to stop inappropriate behavior, comply immediately. Organizers reserve the right to remove individuals who violate these rules without a refund.

Reporting Concerns:

Anyone experiencing or witnessing a breach of this policy is encouraged to report it confidentially to the Organizing Committee (identifiable by their badge), leave a request for contact at the registration desk, or submit a comment in the designated box near the registration area. Anonymous reports are also welcome.

Social Media Guidelines:

We encourage attendees to use social media to share insights and network but ask that they follow these guidelines:

✅ DO:

  • Share key takeaways and discussions, except when a speaker requests otherwise. Talks are shareable by default unless otherwise specified.
  • Engage in professional discussions and networking opportunities before, during, and after the event.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the XAFS19 Committee.
  • Communicate with respect and professionalism, ensuring critiques remain constructive.

🚫 DON’T:

  • Use cameras, video recorders, or other recording devices during oral and poster sessions. Sharing photos, videos, or session content online—including social media, blogs, and personal websites—is strictly prohibited.
  • Distribute or reuse data presented at XAFS19 without permission, which could interfere with later publication in scientific journals. Please respect embargo policies.
  • Engage in disrespectful, defamatory, or personal attacks.

By participating in this conference, attendees agree to uphold these principles to foster a welcoming and professional environment for all.
